Finding Your Blind Spot

Image
When I say blind spot, I'm not referring to that area that is out of your peripheral vision while driving. I'm talking about your psychological blind spot. I learned about this a few years ago and a blind spot is essentially the inability to see characteristics in ourselves that are obvious to those around us. An example I've heard is, just like a fish can't see the water it's swimming in, you can't always clearly see or evaluate a situation that you may be in. It takes someone with a different perspective to point it out. Someone on the outside can see pitfalls and even opportunities that you can't see. They can see them, ironically, because they aren't immersed in them every day. So, who can help you out with this? Well, different perspectives can come from a number of sources. The best people to seek for this are those who aren't involved deeply with you or who don't have an agenda for example a life coach . But be prepared because it ...

Shift Happens

I had another good coaching session via Ken Davis Coaching last night. Ken said, "We have the power to make our circumstances, even though it seems that the circumstances present themselves and we just respond to them." This means I have the ability to be more in touch with my gut instinct so that when an unpleasant circumstance presents itself I am better equipped to deal with it in a proactive way rather than a reactive way. Throughout our discussion and my reflections on past events, he pointed out how a paradigm shift occurred within me causing me to see my circumstances in an entirely different way. What a revelation! Now we will work to find out how to develop and flex that gut instinct muscle so that I will have the foresight and am ready for the next circumstances in life that come my way. This will cause less stress and more peace. I love this famous quote by Wayne Dyer. He said, "If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change". So...

Digging Deeper

Starting out on a new journey has always been exciting to me. As a lover of research and travel, it just comes natural to me to explore new places and ideas. The type of journey that I happen to be on right now is a journey of rediscovery. I have spent many years helping businesses promote themselves through multimedia advertising and it has been a wonderful experience. But now I'm wanting more. Needing more. I need to dig down further now and work below the surface a bit and discover my true calling. One of my sources right now assisting me on this journey is through Ken Davis Coaching . I'm in the initial stages and working on a "Values Assessment Exercise". This exercise will help me recognize and understand what value system I have chosen to live by. It will help me to discover what drives me and why I do or do not accomplish the things on my agenda. The purpose of doing the values assessment is to clarify and remind yourself and even discover what is important to...
